How much does it cost to become a member?

The classic annual membership is $50 per year, but we offer reduced fees for spouses of retired physicians and residents, and membership is free for medical students and spouses.  There are many avenues of support, but none so critical as Member Dues.  The Alliance is an all-volunteer organization with no paid staff or overhead.  All funds are utilized for programs and communications.

Frequently Asked Questions

02

Do I have to be a physician spouse to join?

No!  We have a category of membership called "Friends of the Alliance".  We recognize that many of our supporters are not part of physician families, and we want to to invite everyone to formally join the organization to enjoy their support and fellowship.  Members in this category pay $25 for their annual membership, and will be invited to participate in all the social and community events as our physician family members.

03

I'm the husband of a physician, is this group for me?

Absolutely!  Just as the medical schools have experienced a shift in the ratio of male and female students, our organization encourages ALL spouses of physicians to join and enjoy all the benefits of a physician family community.  We understand the rigors of training, the demands of a career in medicine, and the occupational hazards that are often stressful for families, such as political and legislative changes, malpractice cases, and continuing commitment to board certification.  We have events geared towards all families, like our annual membership picnic and legislative workshop, as well as community service opportunities for the whole family, like Doctor's Day and volunteering to serve at Community Harvest Food Bank.

04

How do you serve the community?

We are a small group, but in the past ten years we have:

  • Outfitted over 4,400 girls for prom with our annual Cinderella Dress Day

  • Sponsored attendance for over 29,000 adults and children at our annual Doctor's Day

  • Supported the IU School of Medicine in FW

  • Raised nearly $30,000 for the lobby area during the Matthew 25 Clinic expansion project

  • Supported the Fort Wayne Ballet's "Arts Literacy Program"

  • Co-sponsored over 20 Annual Legislative Workshop/Dinners

  • Gifted more than $50,000 in medical career scholarships

  • Held 2-3 social events per year for physician families

I'm interested in volunteering, how do I get more information?

Please visit our Board Members page to find the committee or department you would like to assist or visit our Volunteer/Project News page for current volunteer options.  Many of our community service opportunities are open to sponsorship from local companies, or partnership for a like-minded cause.  We are constantly re-evaluating our efforts and would love your input!
